Why and which kind of woman had their feet binded in ancient China?
Woman that didn't have to work hard and could sit around. It was impossible to walk with out help. Apparentally foot binding gave women a better chance at marrage because it made them seem rich. If they were unhappy with their marrage it would be impossible to run away from it. Some girls got married to a guy that did all of the work and didn't need help because they wouldn't be able to anyways.
Why didn't men get their feet binded in ancient China?
Feet binding was known for women. Men were normally always hard working and need their feet so they could do work. Also it was said to be feminine and graceful. The men needed to walk and getting your feet binded made it very difficult. In fact some woman couldn't even make it to one side of a room to the other with out help.

How and when did foot binding in ancient China began?
Foot binding began during the early song dynasty, (960-1279). When girls were ages between 5 and 8. Began among members of the chinese cort and female entertainers. It began long ago!
What is the process of foot binding in ancient China?
At the ages between 5 and 8, young girls mothers bent their feet back till the bone broke. This caused deformity. Their feet were wrapped in cloth that pushed all 4 toes on each foot down and around under the balls of their feet. The cloths were changed daily. After their foot had "healed" they put their wooden shoes on and finally they had small feet.

Foot binding began among female entertainers and members of the chinese cort. It spread slowly through china but soon enough lots of girls were doing it. Foot binding was known for beauty. Girls had it done because it was fmenine and graceful. Though you could barely walk from one side of a room to the other not all girls had it done.
